I love the DVD you produced, Top notch stuff, indeed! It is something I would recommend highly to anyone serious about coming out a winner in any kind of fight. Fighting for my life, or the lives of those I care about, is deadly serious business to me. Only the strong and well trained survive. Studying your fighting techniques will provide the edge needed. You are an excellent teacher! I truly look forward to seeing how you can top this DVD with the one you are producing for release next year. Put me down for 2 of those!

It is a pleasure to have gotten to know you to the extent I have. You are a consummate professional in every way. It shows in my dealings with you. I have never seen a guy cover all the bases like you do!

DVD Review By Doug Clark (UK)

Whilst from a different martial system, I have approximately 30yrs in martial arts with excellent teachers. I wanted to say that I recently purchased the DVD on Total Body Defence and I whole-heartedly agree that this is an excellent and fluid system. It is well suited to the demands of the real world being fast, fluid and aggressive in action.

I enjoyed the Pre-Emptive striking and also the way that multiple strikes are used. The weapons defences looked really good and workable with good advice given about getting out of the line of fire and using quick decisive responses. The advice against weapons was overall highly realistic and well thought out.

It is excellently produced and can be watched again and again.  One of the things I immediately took from it and noted was the no nonsense attitude and also the multiple strike philosophy and over whelming the aggressor at the earliest possible opportunity.  Your DVD basically cuts to the chase. The overwhelm and the speed of response as well as the hits to vulnerable targets puts the System and DVD right up there in my humble opinion

I believe that your work is very good, of a high quality and from my perspective I find your System very good

A lot of care and attention to detail has clearly gone into the DVD and Alun and his team have done a brilliant job. . I really look forward to DVD 2.

It almost sounds too good to be true but ‘Total Body Defence’ really is that slick, professional and informative. There’s even icing on the cake, in the form of a number of extra features, including defence against gun and knife and, before I hear you groan, Alun is at pains to point out that defence against such weapons is a controversial area and insists that his techniques are not a guaranteed solution rather they offer the viewer slightly better odds in a genuinely life-threatening situation.

To conclude, this is the best DVD I have seen in terms of presentation, content and technical achievement and ‘Total Body Defence’ is the perfect fusion of technique and technology creating the ultimate inter-active training aid.
Knowing the time and energy that has gone into the production of this DVD, all I can say is the old-adage really is true-“good things come to those that wait.”

"As a Krav Maga instructor I can see in Master Alun's techniques the same direct, no-nonsense, approach we advocate. His counters are direct and deadly, delivering maximum force in minimal time. His soft spoken manners and gentlemanly behavior show his true character as one who believes in people's right for safely and security. I found his DVD to be exceptionally well put together, with clear and concise explanations and excellent use of the latest technology."

My copy arrived today .. thanks guys.. I have just skipped through it over a cuppa, so havent seen it in detail.. however the production is without doubt the best I have seen.. very very good

however naturally having been a goshinkwai man from 1970 to 1990 I am in a position to recognise them and so maybe see them from a slightly different prespective than many other but to be sure, the ones I looked at were spot on

I have watched the DVD several times and used the various menus in order to try and fully appreciate what is being conveyed, and can't fault it.

If I had to give a short appraisal I would say its probably the best instructional close combat DVD I have seen in the past couple of years.
It deserves to do well and I hope it does (no fee necessary Wizzy Ha Ha)
my compliments

First of all, a big thank you for the DVD. I´ve waited for an eternety it seems (was it 5 years ago,

your website started???) Anyway, I just wanted to say that it was worth the wait.

I loved this DVD. First of all, the production was great. It has a clear sound and picture. Second it has a great menue of each of the techniques, where you can chose that you want to see.

At first, I didn´t like all the repetions and changes of angles, but then I saw some more of the DVD and realised that I made a change of heart. I liked it. Many people may want to have more techniques and therefor less repetition, but then they probobly will miss a lot. I have some DVDs/tapes at home that are like that. They show the techniques 3 times, with explanation, and then on with it. This DVD doesnt. It really makes you get it.

I want to say that this is one of the BEST DVDs or tapes out there. I have about 30-50 DVDs and approx 150 instructional videotapes from different Martial arts styes and production companies and this one is in the top ten if not top five. It is better than the Steve Benitez Silat-tapes, if you got them (production-vice).

So I´m really looking forward to the next DVD and no, I have never trained Goshinkwai or met Alun or any of the Goshinkwai-people ot there (but I woould love to, so If you´re in my neck of the wood...)

Just had a look at the DVD and my additional thoughts are that this is a very professional and well constructed instructional DVD. I agree with chris’s thoughts on the DVD production being one of the best that I have seen and ive seen a few. Things about the DVD that really impressed me was the 360 degree views of the techniques which really made easy viewing of the footwork especially the overhead view. I could also see in the DVD the techniques and footwork that John Warfield had introduced to us many years ago

Just like to say how impressed I was with the DVD. Not only the Self Defence Techniques demonstrated, but also the superb layout and interaction. Having trained in two Martial Arts myself I was interested to see what Goshinkwai (Total Body Defence) had to offer. I was not disappointed!! The techniques employed to take out any would be attacker were clinical, straight to the point, no messing around! I can see why it’s looked upon highly by Special Forces. Can’t wait for the next DVD! Gubbo

Arrived this morning as promised. There is a LOT of material on there (always a good start from my perspective) and from first glance your DVD has the BEST production I have ever seen on a MA DVD. In fact it's one of the best produced instructional DVD's I have ever seen in any field.

I'll need to spend a lot more time with the content before writing any thoughts on the material but without doubt you have an amazingly good looking product there utilising the very latest in technology. Nice job.

I've only had a quick skim through it as well, but agree the production quality is superb. Not at all what you would expect for £24.99! Dragon from SDF
